Cynthia Akers Goldstein is a partner in the firm of Healey & Hornack. Ms. Goldstein practices in the area of employment litigation, negotiation and mediation. She represents employees and small employers in claims involving contract disputes, wrongful discharge, sexual harassment, age discrimination, disability discrimination, unemployment compensation and workers’ compensation.
Ms. Goldstein is rated AV by the Martindale-Hubbell Lawyer Rating Service, a rating which reflects the highest standards in legal competency and ethics. Ms. Goldstein has written and lectured in the areas of union/management relations, employment discrimination, worker’s compensation and the negotiation of employment agreements. She has conducted numerous private seminars for union and management officials, which are designed to achieve alternate methods of dispute resolution and improve labor relations. Ms. Goldstein is the author of “Your Rights as an Injured Worker: A Worker’s Compensation Guidebook for Employees and their Representatives.” Ms. Goldstein has served as faculty for Pennsylvania Bar Institute courses on Labor and Employment Law and the Pennsylvania State University’s seminar on workplace hazards.
Ms. Goldstein is admitted to practice law in the states of Pennsylvania and Maryland. Ms. Goldstein is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Ms. Goldstein graduated from law school in 1991 with honors from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law. She is a 1987 honors graduate of the Florida State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in International Economics. Ms. Goldstein is a member of the National Employment Lawyers Association, the Coalition of Labor Union Women, the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association and the Allegheny County Bar Association. She is also a member of the Maryland State Bar Association. Ms. Goldstein is an active community advocate for the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She serves a community liasion to the Pittsburgh Board of Education for the federal "No Child Left Behind" legislation.
