Douglas B. McKechnie is an associate at Healey & Hornack. Mr. McKechnie focuses his practice in the areas of union labor law, employment law, unemployment compensation, workers’ compensation and civil liberties. Before joining Healey & Hornack, Mr. McKechnie spent a year as a judicial clerk in the Superior Court of Connecticut.
Mr. McKechnie is admitted to practice law in Pennsylvania and is also admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the United States Third Circuit Court of Appeals.
Mr. McKechnie graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 2002. He is a 1998 summa cum laude graduate of Ohio University, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and a minor in Philosophy. Mr. McKechnie is a member of the American Bar Association, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Allegheny County Bar Association and the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee. Mr. McKechnie is also a member of the American Civil Liberties Union’s Legal Committee for the Western Pennsylvania Chapter.
Mr. McKechnie is a recurring guest lecturer for an Introduction to Political Science course at the University of Pittsburgh. He focuses his lecture on civil rights and civil liberties in the United States. Mr. McKechnie volunteers as a presenter for the Allegheny County Bar Associations’ Stepping Out program, which prepares high school students for the legal responsibilities they encounter after graduation. Mr. McKechnie also volunteers as a mock trial judge for high school and college mock trial tournaments in southwestern Pennsylvania.
