Michael Healey and Douglas McKechnie successfully pursued precedent setting cases on behalf of the United Mine Workers of America in the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. 396 F.3d 237, dealing with Court review of labor arbitration awards, and with ACLU Legal Director Vic Walczak in SEIU & Rachel Canning v. Mt. Lebanon, 446 F.3d 419, protecting First Amendment rights of canvassers to distribute literature.

Attorney Michael Healey was recently awarded the Marjorie H. Matson Award for Civil Liberties and Civil Rights by the ACLU. The Pittsburgh City Council further honored Michael by declaring March 8, 2005 Michael J. Healey Day.
Michael Healey continues regular interviews by radio, print and TV news outlets on many labor law and civil liberties issues. Most recently he has been interviewed concerning an NLRB decision stripping away rights of millions of workers to belong to unions. He has also been interviewed concerning efforts to save breweries at Latrobe (formerly Rolling Rock beer) and Pittsburgh (Iron City ).
Jules Lobel has been primary counsel or amicus counsel on behalf of the Center for Constitutional Rights in cases challenging the Executive Branch’s usurpation of power and restriction of civil liberties.

On October 20, 2004, Attorney Cynthia Goldstein presented a health and workplace safety seminar to the members of the Steamfitters Union, Local 489, in Cumberland, Maryland. Attorney Goldstein co-presented with Sean George, who survived a life-threatening industrial accident while working as a steamfitter.
